The Republic of Azerbaijan has once been described by a U.S. Ambassador to Baku as the “keystone country” of Eurasia. That strategic importance of our nation is increasing as the Azerbaijanis work with partners in the neighborhood and beyond to strengthen their statehood and to build a more secure, prosperous region. For Azerbaijan, which is a member of the Council of Europe and of the Euro-Atlantic community, while at the same time being a part of the Muslim world, America’s strong friend and the Caspian region vital hub, the balanced policy pursued by the Government is the natural choice. Promoting regional cooperation and respect for international law reflect Azerbaijan’s principled commitment.
